GERMANY GETS THE WHOLE PODIUM IN SPRINT

Women sprint of European Championships in Tyumen became a real triumph of German team.

Nadine Horchler, Karolin Horchler and Annika Knoll – these were three medalists of the race. As for the team of Russia, their shooting was far from perfect. Anna Scherbinina with one missed target was very close to winning a medal, finishing 4th just 4 seconds back the bronze medalist.

Anastasia Zagoruyko of Tyumen has one missed target in each shooting but was very fast on the track. As a result, she was 7th at finish. An Olympic champion Svetlana Sleptsova with the same number of missed targets finished 12th.

«I am very happy, as this is my first victory on such an important competition. I felt very confident on a track after yesterday’s race. It’s twice more pleasant to be on a podium together with my sister and my teammate», – said the winner.

A silver medalist Karolin Horchler shared the same feelings with her sister.

«This is my first podium in the season. And this is really great, as the season was not very successful for me. I didn’t even expect I would get any medal here», - confessed Annika Knoll.

On February’27 women will have pursuit race, and Russian team will be able to redeem itself, while Germany will have one more chance to make sure its success was not accidental.
